Why regular physical activity is so good for you
Author: Crys
Some of us have a vague idea how regular physical activity can improve not only our „body shape“, but the overall health.
A couple of hours ago, while I was lining up in a grocery store, there was this guy, in his early 20s, standing behind me and lecturing his girlfriend about „fitness and related stuff”. Having to listen to his lecture for couple of minutes – it was just my fault because I forgot to grab my headphones from home – I’ve not only realized that this guy’s aim was only his girlfriend’s shape, but not all of us are aware of the key importance of the physical activity.
The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. Why? I will only mention a few of them.
Because they help you keep an eye on your weight!
Regular exercise helps us from preventing excess weight gain or maintaining weight loss. If you’ve ever tried it, you should know that doing any kind of physical activity helps you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn.
Bottom line: If you can’t do a proper workout, regardless of your reasons/current health condition, be active by simply taking the stairs every day.
Fights against diseases!
Do you start having problems with your heart or high blood pressure? Being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. In fact, regular physical activity can help you prevent or keeps a control of a wide range of health problems, such as depression, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, etc.
Improves your everyday mood!
Go ahead and try half an hour workout at the gym or even a 30 minutes walk and see for yourself if you don’t believe me. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost both, your confidence and self-esteem.
Boosts your energy level!
Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently.
Helps you sleep better!
Struggling to fall asleep on a regular basis? Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep. Be careful and don’t overdo it now, you might feel to energise to fall asleep at all.
Stimulates your sex life
Regular physical activity can leave you feeling energised and looking better, which may have a positive effect on your sex life.
It’s a fun hobby!
Exercise and physical activity can be a fun way to spend some of your free time and to distress. So, join a fitness club, join your friends when they get together to play football, take a dance class, or find a martial art club. Find your favourite physical activity and simply enjoy it. I know, I know, you might get bored, but you will still not convince me why you had to give it up – go ahead and try something new!
Bottom line: For those ones, who are in a good health condition, aim for 30 minutes of physical activity every day or at least regularly.
For those ones, whose current health condition is at stake, please don’t forget to check with your doctor, before starting a new exercise program.
